Redlink Gateway
A Redlink Gateway is an ancillary device that enables WiFi capabilities on non-WiFi thermostats. It works as an intermediary between certain thermostats to provide an internet connection.
The purpose of this device is to establish a connection with Honeywell Total Connect Comfort, a cloud applicable that allows remote management of thermostat settings.
The purpose of this device is to establish a connection with Honeywell Total Connect Comfort, a cloud applicable that allows remote management of thermostat settings.
For example, below is the integration pathway for both WiFi and non-WiFi enabled Honeywell Vision Pro thermostats.
Without a stable internet connection, your thermostat cannot be managed remotely or remain connected to the David Energy platform. If this device is installed, it is just important to ensure it remains connected as a traditional thermostat.
Connection Troubleshooting
If you are having trouble with your Redlink Gateway connection, follow the steps below to troubleshoot for a resolution.
First, locate your Redlink Gateway. If your thermostats were installed by David Energy, the device would have been installed in your IT room / IT rack.
Next, check the LED lights. There are three lights on the Redlink device: Internet, Power, and Redlink. Each light has associated colors to help signify the potential issue.
Ideally, all lights should be solid green. If this is not the case, review the image below to detect the potential issue.
To troubleshoot Internet:
Check your internet connection
Check to see if there are other connectivity issues, like firewall settings
If your gateway is wireless, it may be out of range of your signal, or the signal may be too weak. Move the device closer to the router or consider adding a wifi extender
To troubleshoot RedLINK:
Check your internet connection and ensure the device is close enough to the router
Ensure that the Ethernet cable is connected to the router
Confirm that your thermostat is controllable via Honeywell Total Connect Comfort
To troubleshoot Power:
Check that the power adapter is plugged into the socket and gateway
Unplug and plug the device back into a power source
Check for and replace any damaged or missing cords
Indoor Sensor Troubleshooting
If your thermostat is showing an error message that says "Indoor Sensor not communicating", there may be a connection issue with your Redlink Wireless Sensor.
Follow the steps below to troubleshoot a resolution.
Locate the sensor, which should be at eye-level in the space it's sensing
Open the back of the device
Click the "Connect" button and wait a few minutes to see if it resolves the issue
If not, check the batteries by taking them out and putting them back in
If the device flashes RED, the AAA batteries need to be replaced
Once new batteries are installed, the status light will flash GREEN
Check the thermostat to see if the error message goes away after a few minutes
