Green Energy

What is Green Energy?

Green energy is energy that can be produced using a method, and from a source, that causes no harm to the natural environment.

What's the difference between "Green" and "Renewable" energy?

Though often used interchangeably, there is a key difference between green and renewable energy. While most green energy is renewable, not all renewable energy is entirely green.

Renewable energy, like wind and solar, is naturally replenished and is also called sustainable energy. However, some renewable sources may not be considered "green" if they produce carbon emissions during processes like infrastructure construction.

How does David Energy manage "Green" energy?

Customers may want to purchase and tell customers that they are powered by Green energy. But how can they do that without owning a solar farm or windmill?

David Energy offers a variety of supply products, including a "Fixed Green Energy" rate. Our energy is sourced from solar farms. The price of your rate is determined by current and future market conditions. The solution is Renewable Energy Credits (REC), which our company will manage on your behalf.

What is a Renewable Energy Certificate (REC)?

A Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) represents proof that 1 megawatt-hour (MWh) of electricity was generated from a renewable energy source, like wind or solar. RECs allow individuals and companies to claim the environmental benefits of green energy, even if they can't directly use it.

A Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) allows businesses to claim green energy without directly owning renewable sources like solar farms. When a solar farm produces 1 MWh of energy, it's issued a REC, which can be sold to companies that want to say they're powered by green energy. To prevent double counting, each REC is "retired" once it's used, ensuring that 100 MWh of energy is matched by 100 RECs, effectively turning that electricity into green energy.
