Thermostat Insights - FAQs
What is "Schedule Compliance"?
Schedule Compliance is the percentage of time that your thermostat adheres to our recommended schedule. Compliance is the leading indicator of energy efficiency. Higher compliance = higher efficiency.
Why does my thermostat have low compliance?
By clicking View on a thermostat in the list, you can see the data we have on that specific device. Below are some examples of why thermostats may have low compliance:
High number of permanent holds:
You can see holds in the detail chart when the setpoint line (blue) is different from the green line, which is what we recommend the thermostat be set to.
Example below:
The schedule on the thermostat is different than our recommended schedule:
You can see that the thermostat is on a different schedule when the setpoint line (blue) and the green line (our recommended thermostat schedule) rarely overlap.
How do I remedy a low compliance thermostat?
If frequent holds seem to be the culprit, talk to your on site team. Is the space uncomfortable? Is the schedule not a good fit for operations? Based on this feedback, our Energy Advisor team can help you find a good solution.
If the schedule is incorrect, our team can help you get back on the recommended schedule, or change to a new schedule that might be better suited to your location's needs.
Either way, please reach out to success@davidenergy.com for support as needed.
Do "Holds" indicate an override?
Yes. If a location has experienced a permanent hold, someone has likely made a manual change on the thermostat. Our Auto-Reset feature will reset these back to the recommended schedule each nights.
There may be other changes made (temporary holds, schedule changes) that are not represented by the Hold column. We highlight permanent holds because they are the most problematic for overall compliance and system runtime.
