Grid Services Programs

David Energy customers have the opportunity to enroll in incentive programs that allow you to: 

• earn rebates for reducing usage 

• reduce your electricity bill spend by better managing your capacity tags

ConEd’s Demand Response program (also known as Smart Usage Rewards) pays customers to consume less electricity than they normally would during periods when the grid is stressed—like hot summer days. The goal is to reduce stress on the grid and ensure reliable power supply for all.

David Energy offers the opportunity for customers in our portfolio to participate in these programs and reap financial incentives by helping the grid maintain reliability during peak load periods. 

We typically see a total of 5-6 events called per season in the Summer months. Events last a total of 2-6 hours. Our involvement is designed to minimize comfort issues during the events—and put dollars back in your pockets.

Customers can opt-out of an event at any time by simply adjusting the temperatures on their thermostats. However, to deliver the maximum incentive to you, we recommend that you avoid opting out of events as much as possible. David Energy will help you communicate the benefits of demand response participation to your onsite teams during events.

The ‘Capacity Tag’ represents a customer’s peak electrical demand during the year. David Energy works with customers to strategically reduce their capacity tag when demand is expected to be at peak levels. By lowering capacity tags, customers can see reductions in their capacity costs which are reflected in their future supply rates for electricity.

Capacity tag management events typically occur between the hours of 4-6 pm during the months of July and August; David Energy will notify customers of an upcoming event well in advance. Capacity tag reductions can result in significant savings—meaning it's even more important to stay "opted in" for the full event period.
